Character Builder Guide

The Builder walks the Core Rulebook's ten creation steps in order and does every bit of math for you β€” illegal builds simply aren't possible, and everything refunds freely until you finalize. This guide is the tour; the tool itself also carries a πŸ“‹ Build guide checklist on every step that lists exactly what's left and jumps you to it, and a cockpit strip pinned to the top of every step β€” your XP, credits, wounds, strain, and soak, live as you buy. When its chip turns green (βœ“ Ready to finalize), tapping it takes you straight to the sheet.

Two more shortcuts: ⚑ Quick start archetypes on the Species screen load a legal half-built classic (Ace Pilot, Wookiee Bruiser, Force Exile…) in one tap β€” everything stays refundable. And the πŸ” quick-jump (or press /) searches every species, talent, skill, gear item, and Force power and takes you straight there.

The flow, interactive

Getting started

1

Open the Builder β€” no account needed to explore. If you sign in (βœ‰ button, top right β€” a one-time email link, never a password), your character cloud-saves automatically as you work and follows you to any device.

2

Check your Sourcebooks. On the Species screen, the Sourcebooks panel lists all ten books. Core is always on; tick any expansions your table allows β€” species, specializations, gear, and Force content appear the moment a book is on, and content you actually use pins its book open so a build can never go half-legal.

3

Follow the Continue buttons. Every screen ends with one. Names for the character and player live on the Species screen β€” both are required before finalizing.

πŸ’‘ Force-sensitive characters: enable Force and Destiny in Sourcebooks, then buy the Force Sensitive Exile specialization from the Talents step (any career). That grants Force Rating 1, unlocks The Force step with all eleven power trees, Morality on the Obligation screen, and β€” with the right credits β€” a lightsaber built from a hilt and crystal on the Gear step.

Spending XP without missing anything

Invest XP is split into Characteristics β†’ Skills β†’ Talents β†’ The Force steps. Characteristics are cheapest during creation and locked after (only the Dedication talent raises them later) β€” spend there first. Free skill ranks from your career and specialization are picks you make, not automatic: the Skills step shows FREE pick chips until you've used them, and the Build guide nags you if you forget.

Finalizing

When the Build guide goes green, review the Character Sheet and hit Finalize. That locks wound/strain thresholds per the book, switches XP to advancement rules (GM-awarded XP, no refunds, skills to rank 5), and makes the character eligible to join campaigns. Print from the sheet β€” it's tuned for color and black-and-white printers, with dice pools as die shapes.

🐞 Something wrong, or an idea? Hit the πŸ’¬ button in the top bar (on phones it lives in the ☰ menu, along with sign-in, save/load, start over, and themes) β€” it sends feedback with the context needed to fix it, right from where you're standing.
